Hello,

I've had a white rectangle of 1*0.5 cm at the bottom right of my screen, just above the time, for 2 days now.

No reaction when hovering/clicking/dragging the mouse.
No programs running.

It's in front of everything (games, browsers, windows of all kinds).

Oh yes, I'm on Windows. ^^

If anyone knows the problem, any help would be appreciated. =)

Have you tried a rollback to three days ago using a restore point?

You're using Windows, that's good, but which version?

  An example: if it is related to a bad manipulation made 24 hours ago and system restore brings your PC back to how it was before, in principle your bad manipulation will be undone and the PC will be as it was before that manipulation, so the error is corrected (it is not hidden) but well ...

  I am trying to understand why this happened, how to fix it, and I mean fix, not just delete it randomly with a restore or a format. Buying a new PC would also solve the problem if we follow your reasoning.

  Firstly, which Windows?
  Do you remember what you were doing before this gadget appeared?
  
  Out of curiosity, I once extracted an Eicar test after disabling my antivirus just to see.
  I got a big black sore on my screen until I reactivated my protection.
  
  To avoid the inconvenience, we'll only know if we figure out how it came about.
  
  In my opinion, a PC analysis seems useful to determine if it's not a malware causing this or a graphical bug.

Hello,

If it can help, according to what I've read about this infamous little white rectangle that doesn't allow any manipulation, it's a software that slipped into the taskbar (though I don't know which one). To remove this famous white rectangle, it should be enough to uninstall this software and reinstall it again, if you wish.

  You give me a lead.
  Task Manager and disable any program that starts at the same time as Windows.
  Then you log off as many times as possible and reactivate one by one to see when it comes back.

It's not easy, is it? That's why I'm here ^^

I don't remember what I did at that moment xD
Nothing out of the ordinary for sure.
No new installations or updates.

Software, why not, but I'm skeptical; all my software is working fine, and if I shut everything down, the glitch is still there.
I'll still check again, you never know.

Just to clarify and avoid questions for "beginners"
I'm not a security expert, but I work in development; I have a basic knowledge of computing.

Restarting, viruses, spyware—those are the first things I checked.

I never disable my antivirus; it manages all system changes, indexing, and everything that follows. It's manual configuration for each program, it's a hassle, but I've never had any conflicts since I've been handling it.

I'm on Win 10, although that doesn't help at all.

Graphic bug, why not; I'll look into that too.

  If it was really a bug, restarting the explorer should be enough to make it disappear like with the restart.

  Which version of 10 are you on?
  1703? If you upgrade to the next one, maybe the bug will go away?

It's my antivirus that wanted my permission for some nonsense, the window was displaying poorly.
It had an update yesterday, except it was supposed to be on manual updates... well, it's not a big deal, I'll reinstall it properly.
