Cannot install Spotify on Windows 10 (Admin account)

Hello,

I just bought my new Asus ROG laptop, with Windows 10 as the OS. I’ve been using an iMac for a while, and I’ve never had or even touched the recent Windows versions (Windows 8 and 10).

Here’s the problem I’m facing: when I try to install Spotify, an error message appears: "Please install Spotify from a user account, not an administrator account."

I don’t understand why this message appears. I infer that I need to create another account or simply enable a setting in my account settings.

In the account settings, I’m being offered to sign in with a "local" account. I’ve looked a bit at what I could do with it, and they simply offer a "local" account by changing my password...

I’m not able to clearly distinguish between all these possible account types: administrator (which would logically be my personal account), the user account, and this local account.

What are the differences? And simply, how can I fix this installation issue?

Thank you for your understanding!

Hi,
So your Admin account is the one you use "usually," then you can create other accounts for guests for example. I had the same problem as you but on Windows 7. what you can do is:
-install Spotify on the "guest" account
-create a Spotify shortcut on the desktop
-return to the admin account
-Go to your documents/Users/GuestAccountName/desktop
-grab the Spotify shortcut to place it on the admin desktop
-launch Spotify

It worked for me, hoping it works for you
