Adapter old speakers to modern screens

Question

Hello,

I have two JBS speakers with free-ended audio cables. They were previously connected to an amplifier, then to a hi-fi system (yes, I do enjoy that).

I would like to connect them now to a Samsung television, which has the following audio ports that I know of: several HDMI, one digital audio OUT/optical (?), and the famous AV ports in various colors, which are already in use but I can switch if necessary.

After several unsuccessful searches online, probably due to poor vocabulary, I haven't found an adapter that would allow me to make the connection between the flat screen and the dual-wire of the two speakers compatible (you know, the one that likes black and red but doesn’t mix them...).

I am therefore turning to you...!

Hello Andy31200,Thank you for your reply, which I just noticed (not having received an email notifying me, it's strange).It is the model UE40C62000RWXZF (version CN01), made in Hungary and not in Asia.And for the speakers: TLX320 mkll!

The only audio outputs are digital optical and headphone output (to the left of HDMI 1); all other RCA jacks are inputs.

You connect the red wire of the left speaker to L
The red of the right speaker to R
Both blacks together to the last terminal (ground)
This adapter in the TV's headphone jack hoping the TV's amplifier is strong enough.
Otherwise, use an external amplifier with optical input via TV optical output; if the amp has no optical input, a DAC will be needed.

The reference is not accurate, but the model features the same design.

The back of the screens found through the image search is very similar (with the arrangement of the connectors) if not identical to mine.

With the jack socket being on the side, it might not look very nice with all those cables sticking out of the TV... Hopefully, they won't weigh too much on it.

Thanks for your help anyway, I hope the assembly will work. I'm still surprised that there aren't more options for adaptation, especially since an amplifier is expensive and consumes a lot...

The audio is the weak point of current flat screens, which are most often connected to a soundbar or a home theater system.

Now, nothing says that the performance of your speakers will be better than the TV's built-in speakers. Let's assume the latter are 91 dB and your speakers are 88 dB, you will be disappointed in terms of power. Personally, I agree with Andy (whom I greet), an amplifier would be the best solution, or else... a soundbar, but that’s not cheap either if you want something decent. This is just a suggestion, of course... Cheers -- There’s no point in rushing; you must start at the right time...

Yes, and if our friend is a bit handy, at a time when I was broke, I opened the device, unsoldered the cables of the TV speakers to connect speakers directly, and the sound was much better than through the headphone jack, (hi Jojolagratte)
