Home theater amplifier fan not spinning

Hello,
I bought a 5.1 home theater system three months ago, complete with the amplifier and its six speakers. I quickly noticed that the amplifier was heating up (on top, near the speaker outputs), and I didn't feel any air coming from the fan grille. I didn't investigate why and continued using it the same way. Now, out of curiosity, I looked at the fan, and it isn't spinning! So I restarted the amplifier to see if it turned on at startup, but it doesn't budge (I even believe it has never turned on).
Is it normal for it not to spin, or is it possible that it only operates in case of overheating?? It's an LG LBH655 model.
I don't want my amplifier to burn out after a year because of a faulty fan. (I've already had enough problems with my overheating PC, so...)
If this isn't normal, I will probably have to claim the warranty, but just the thought of the process bothers me, and I will likely have to return the entire package to the store I bought it from, and I really don't want to go through the hassle of relocating each speaker just to change an amplifier.
Please help me!
