Turntable not powering on

Good evening, I just bought a second-hand TT400 turntable from an old lady. She bought it new a year ago and only used it 3-4 times during that year before I purchased it. I brought it home today, and when I plug it in, nothing happens, nothing turns on, not even the little red light that should be on even if the turntable is off. I pressed the power button several times, but it doesn't work, and neither does the remote control.
According to the lady, the turntable was plugged in without being unplugged for a year. Could that be the cause?
