Good evening,

Since January, when I plug in my USB stick, my trash fills up. I try to empty it, but it says: "Unable to complete the operation because the item is in use." I tried restarting in safe mode, but nothing worked (I think this is related to the USB stick and not the computer, right?). What should I do?

Thank you in advance.

Configuration: Macintosh / Safari 10.1.2

    Good evening,

    try with the Terminal...

The Terminal application is located in Applications / Utilities, so you launch the Terminal.

    - In the Terminal window type:

    sudo rm -R:

Note the space between rm and -R

    - Type a space after the R

    - Drag and drop the file you want to delete into the Terminal window, it will automatically go in front of that space,

    - Then confirm by pressing the "Enter" key

    - Enter your Admin password for the Mac, (you won't see what you are typing, that's normal),

    - Confirm by pressing the Enter key

    Best regards.

EDIT: In my response, I assumed that the drive is in Mac OS format, or that there is a utility on the Mac to allow modification of a drive in NTFS.... otherwise, see this page:

Always indicate your system configuration completely - exact model of computer, exact OS version.
