Em dash without number pad

Hello,

I have a Dell Inspiron 13 laptop and no numeric keypad. I am a novelist and I need to make my characters speak well! How do you make an em dash on this type of device? I tried going into correction options, I checked the box "replace -- with" but nothing happens automatically.
How can I do it?
Thank you for your response.

    Hello
    Em dash Alt+0151 ==> —
    En dash Alt+0150 ===> –
    But without a numeric keypad, it's not easy
    You have to go through the character map The en dash is obtained by typing 2013 in the "unicode page" box

      A big thank you!
      I've been struggling for a while to find that darn dash, not having a numeric keypad
      The dialogues in my novel are saved!

        Hello! To go even further and use the hyphen key twice (key 6) to type your em dash instead of searching for it in the symbols, just go to (in Word) the Insert section, then Symbols, and select the em dash, and then click on the button in the bottom left (AutoCorrect). Finally, in the dialog box that appears, in the "Replace" section (marked in red in the screenshot below), type two hyphens (--) and click OK to close the dialog box. Thus, when you type two -- in your text, the software will automatically transform this "sign" into an em dash (formatted text). Good luck!
