Hello hello,
Yes, I know there are 36,000 topics already created on this subject, but I have never found the solution to the problem, despite trying a lot of things.
So, I have set google.fr as my homepage on Google Chrome, but when I open the browser, I have two tabs:
• about:blank
• google.fr
I have tried a lot of cleaning with Adwcleaner, ZHPCleaner, I uninstalled and then reinstalled Google Chrome, but nothing works, I always have that damned tab opening.
Do you have a REAL solution that works?
Thank you.

Hello,
have you tried simply resetting the Google Chrome settings? -

Hello,
Run the Chrome Cleanup Tool
Run Malwarebytes
Do a reset
Run JRT
Run CCleaner
Cleaning + registry
Restart the PC each time.

Ameliedu45,

Open Google Chrome
Clear what you see in the URL bar and copy/paste this command
chrome://settings
then press enter
On startup--► set of pages
Remove everything you see then paste --► https://www.google.fr/
Appearance
Check--► Show Home button and Always show bookmarks bar
New Tab page--► Change
Make sure "Show New Tab page" is checked by default
Search
Manage search engines
Keep Google and remove the others
For cleanup, you can run Malwarebytes at the end since the scan is longer
The others are quite quick

So, I did exactly what you told me @pistouri, and it resulted in absolutely no change. Still the about:blank tab.
I'm despairing. Am I a rare case??? -

Hello,
Start Button
In the search field, copy and paste this command
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions
Delete everything you see
Have you run a scan with Malwarebytes?
The tutorial
Continue with Roguekiller
Restore your homepage (set of pages) and Google as the default search engine
Show the Home button in appearance and click on it to see if Google is indeed your homepage

Do you have about:blank on other browsers?
This could indicate a virus, in that case, switch to the Virus/Security Forum for a FRST, a Helper will assist you
You can uninstall Google Chrome using Revo
Uninstallation + full scan
Run Ccleaner or a disk cleanup
Check for any remaining directories
--► Start button, in the search field, copy/paste
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Google
Delete everything you see
Close the window
--► Start button, in the search field, copy/paste
%temp%
Select everything
Delete all temporary files
If some do not delete, close the window
Restart the PC
Then reinstall Google Chrome
