Hello,

I have a PC with a GTX 1050ti graphics card, and I just bought a second-hand monitor (because I can't afford a new one) that only has a VGA output. I wanted to know if my monitor would work with an HDMI to VGA adapter. I spoke to a technician who told me it was possible, but I still prefer to ask on the forum.

I bought a DVI to VGA adapter, but it doesn't work (I have a DVI-D). The signal from the DVI is not the same as the VGA.

Yes, a TV or the PC was connected via HDMI.

You can connect your PC to the TV via HDMI and at the same time your monitor with the DVI/VGA adapter to see how everything is recognized?

Your graphics card has a DVI-D output which, like HDMI, only carries digital signals. There are DVI/VGA adapters that are supposed to work with DVI-D, but in most cases, they do not work. However, there are active DVI-D/VGA adapters that are capable of transferring the digital signals from DVI-D to analog VGA. But they are more expensive.

so the HDMI/VGA adapters also need to be active, otherwise it won't work either and will be more expensive...
maybe it's better to find a second-hand HDMI screen?
