Damaged optical SPDIF output on Toshiba TV

Hello,

I have a Toshiba television at home, and unfortunately, the optical spdif output is damaged.

Indeed, there was a small metal piece that held the optical cable, like a little spring, and that piece has disappeared, causing quite frequent unexpected sound dropouts.

Is this repairable? If so, how can I do it?

    Good evening,
    Try to "prop" the socket with a plastic or wooden toothpick... NOTHING METALLIC ABOVE ALL... once the right position is found, it should help you out.
    Otherwise, the socket needs to be replaced... don't forget to ask for a quote, it can be expensive...

      A quote to whom? Who provides outlets? Do you have a URL to a site that sells them?

    Well, to find out how much it might cost you, go to a TV repair shop and explain that the SPDIF port on your TV is damaged. Ask them if it can be repaired and how much it might cost.
    Otherwise, I just did a search and I can't find anything regarding the replacement of a socket like yours.

      That's what's strange, on the internet, we can find just about anything and everything, except for the socket to change.

      If it were possible to find such a socket, I could just place the kind of "spring" in the existing socket.

      Putting a toothpick in doesn’t seem great to me, this kind of socket shouldn’t be very expensive.

      Do TV repairmen still exist? Where can we find them?

      Today, aren’t TVs made to have a limited lifespan (due to planned obsolescence)?

    To find a repair service near you, search the Yellow Pages if you are in France.
    In any case, telecom repair services exist in any country in the world.
