Windows activation issue Solved

Hello, good evening. As you may have guessed from the title, I have an activation problem with Windows. I had installed an official version of Windows on my old PC; so far, everything was fine, but recently, I bought a new PC. Not knowing how to deactivate Windows, I preferred to delete everything on the hard drive. Then I bought a new PC and reinstalled Windows on the same hard drive as my old PC. It installed fine, but a week after the installation, I got a big message saying "ACTIVATE WINDOWS" in the bottom right corner, which is very annoying. I then tried to re-enter my key, and this error message appeared: "We can't activate Windows on this device because the product key you entered has already been used on another device. Go to the Windows Store to purchase a genuine version of Windows. (0xc004c008)" That's it; I hope you understand my problem. Thank you for taking the time to help me. Hello, Yes, certainly. An OEM license only allows for a single installation on one PC.

So, sorry for the late reply, I don't know if it's an OEM but in any case I bought it here: https://www.topachat.com/pages/detail2_cat_est_ordinateurs_puis_rubrique_est_wl_systex_puis_ref_est_lg10008120.html. Indeed, it's an OEM :/ Is there really no way?

AH! I managed to activate it, what a relief! I went to settings > update & security > activation > troubleshoot, then I clicked "I changed my hardware" and I clicked on "this is the computer I'm using" even though it was the name of my old one! I hope to have helped a few people with this problem with this discussion, anyway I thank you for your help Jimpix and pistouri!

Hello.

You would first need to deactivate the old PC using the command prompt with the command slmgr /dlv, manually and correctly copy the activation ID (copy/paste is not possible), then type
slmgr /upk, re-copy the ID, and then click OK to remove the activation key. Upon restarting the PC, you should normally receive a message saying that your PC is no longer activated.

Then you can enter your activation key on the new PC. However, you will no longer be able to use the old PC unless you install a Linux version or purchase a new license.
