Good evening!
I want to know how I can connect a microphone with a jack plug to a laptop that has only one single jack socket (which seems to be designed for a headset with or without a microphone).
I'm not talking about a headset with a microphone, but specifically about a standalone microphone (all the help I've found pertains to the former case).
When the microphone is plugged in, there’s no sound coming from the laptop's speakers. I can't use the built-in microphone (it doesn't seem to work, in my opinion).
I've tried using software to output sound through the speakers; everything seems to work in theory, but the sound still doesn’t come out (except when I unplug the microphone).
Thank you for any help!

Hello,
The simplest method in my opinion is to equip yourself with a USB sound card, this way you will have 2 distinct audio outputs and you will be able to separate the sound from the PC speakers and the microphone connected to the USB sound card, you can find them for less than €10.
