Use WhatsApp without Facebook

Hello,

I’m a die-hard without Facebook or a smartphone (I can’t be the only one, right?), but I currently need to use WhatsApp.
So I used BlueStacks and installed WhatsApp on my PC.
But here’s the thing: to search for contacts, the app wants me to go through Facebook.
Is there another way to search for and get contacts?

    Yes: having a directory. WhatsApp works with phone numbers.
