Hello, I have installed the external drive as indicated and even with the utility disk inserted, nothing happens. Thank you for any help.

Hi,

Leave the disc in the drive and restart the PC.
Press the F12 or F2 key (it depends on the machines) to access the boot menu.
Then select the CD-ROM drive and press the enter key.
The DVD will start, and you will follow the on-screen instructions.
