Hello,
One day, I also decided to clean up my email accounts because it was getting really messy, and in terms of security, it's not the best situation.
Unlike other providers that give you free access to delete an old, unused email account (Yahoo, Gmail, Live, etc.), Free, on the other hand, does not grant you any such access and makes the cancellation process quite cumbersome. Indeed, you have to send a registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt containing the username and password of the account to be canceled (why make it simple when we can make it complicated, painful, and costly).
However, I resigned myself to follow their procedure and sent a registered letter to Free (€4.72) for the cancellation of three email accounts (2 primary ones with free registration and 1 secondary one linked to an old subscription). I received the acknowledgment of receipt, but after a week, my request had still not been processed.
I contacted Free’s former subscriber service at 0892 135 161 (€0.34/min) only to hear the operator tell me that the deletion would be done in a month and that until then, I should not access the email accounts in question for fear of reactivating them. I yelled, but of course, it was useless.
So, I have no choice but to trust Free to get rid of these annoying emails. I will have clarity in a month.
