Asus built-in webcam: light on but black screen

Question

Hello,

First of all, let me tell you that I’m really bad with computers... I’ve had my ASUS X751 L laptop for about 2 years, and I’ve never had the chance to use my webcam. Today, I installed Skype to stay connected with my family, which has just grown, but my camera isn’t working. The indicator light turns on, but the screen stays black. I've been on Windows 10 for a little while now, but I don’t know if my webcam was working before because I had never used it... Please help me. I’ve tried several things mentioned in various help forums, but nothing has worked. I remain at your disposal if you need any other technical information.

That's what I did, but when I'm in the video settings (webcam settings) and I properly select ManyCam, I can't modify anything; everything is grayed out.

Thank you for your quick response, Nemrod18. I tried to install Manycam as you suggested, but at the end of the software execution, I got this error message:
"The signature of ManyCamSetup.exe is corrupted or invalid" and I don't know what that means..

Uninstall, clean up, and choose another download site.

Thank you for the link that worked for the download (I had already tried two). I did everything you told me. There’s a slight change with ManyCam; the screen is no longer completely black but has static and bands running from top to bottom, but still no image... I’m sorry to bother you again...

You launch Skype, tools--options--video and then look for the camera settings.

Change the PC camera to ManyCam.

Did you select the right camera? Many cameras.

If so, sorry but from a distance...

Maybe update the Asus camera driver.

Just one last thought without wanting to bother you further, but I noticed that when going into the system to check the ManyCam program to possibly uninstall and reinstall it, it actually says that this program is unavailable....

I am on an Asus with W10 and it is working...

To uninstall a program "properly," you need to use REVO UNINSTALLER, it deletes and cleans up.

I just did what you told me but without success... No worries, I found a workaround, I'll use my man's computer to see my grandson because his webcam works... Thanks for everything and maybe see you soon for another issue...
