Receiving an email addressed to someone else's inbox

Hello everyone!
Today I received an email in my inbox that wasn't addressed to me. I'm not talking about a wrong header with a name that's not mine, but rather an email addressed to another mailbox!

For example:
my email address is mariedupont@... and I received an email sent by an unknown person who is gillesdurand@... but this email is addressed to a third person whose email is severinelot@... how is it possible that this email ended up in my inbox knowing that there was only one recipient on the list?

Fortunately, there was nothing serious, but I’m wondering :)
thanks for your answers!

    Hello,

Intentionally, it is perfectly possible to impersonate anyone in just a few simple clicks. You just need to know the little trick...

    Hello,

One possibility is that you are in BCC, meaning blind carbon copy. So you don't appear in the header, but you receive the message.

    Best regards

Hello, well no, I checked and that's not the case! Especially since in all the other emails I've received, I am on the recipient list (even when there are several people), but here there is only the address of a stranger...

It’s probably just a technical glitch and she must have received the email that was meant for me...

In blind copy, we don't appear anywhere; that's the principle of the function.
