Connect Blu-ray player to a 5.1 home theater system

Hello,
I am currently facing a small problem regarding the connection of a BluRay player to a Philips HTS5562 home theater.

To summarize, I just treated myself to a new TV (LG 55LF5610) and I am currently using a BluRay player LGBP450 that I bought at the beginning of the year. For sound, I am using a somewhat makeshift solution since I have a Logitech 5.1 kit (for PC) that a friend gave me. To connect it to my TV, I had to use a jack power strip and the kit is connected to my TV via the headphone output. I am not enjoying the spatial sound that the satellites could provide, but the sound is still better than that of the TV. I realize that in my entire setup, sound is really the weak point, so I looked for a solution.

I found a Philips HTS5562 home theater second-hand at a really good price, but I am only interested in the sound capabilities of the home theater. Indeed, I really like my LG player and it plays everything I want it to play.
I would like to know if I could buy the Philips home theater, connect it to the TV to get better sound than currently, but continue to play my BluRays on my LG player? If this is possible, will the sound be in 5.1 when I use the LG player? A little supplementary question: does this work with any home theater or does it require a specific connection?
My question may seem a bit silly, but I've been wandering from forum to forum since yesterday looking for advice on the best sound systems and I have given up on buying a soundbar (from what I've read, it’s really too expensive for what it is) and I absolutely do not have the budget for what seems to be the best solution in the long run: buying an amplifier and a speaker system. So I decided to look at second-hand ads to buy a better sound system than currently at a very low budget to be able to wait to invest in the amplifier and the speakers.
I really don’t know anything about connectivity and I thank anyone who can help me see more clearly!

You're lucky because the digital connections allowing you to keep the 5.1 are available on your three devices: !
Connections:
- The LG via HDMI to the TV (Video and audio)
- Digital optical audio out from the TV to the digital optical in of the home theater. (There might be some settings to adjust in the audio menu of the TV)
Use a quality cable with a good sheath because fiber optic is very delicate, for example:

And don't forget to remove the plastic protective caps if there are any.
If you don’t have sound feedback between the TV and the home theater when using the LG player:
- Digital coaxial out of the LG to the digital coaxial in of the home theater
Switch the home theater to the optical input for the TV and coaxial for the LG player

If I happen to be too late for the Philips, to be sure it works 100% on a home theater model, I need to check that it has a digital optical input and a coaxial input if I understood correctly?
