Hello everyone! I don't know much about wiring, and despite several hours of searching, I haven't found a solution to my problem:
I am renting a new apartment with RJ45 wall sockets in each room. I would like to connect my computer to one of these sockets to link it to my Bbox, which is located in the electrical panel (currently connected via Wi-Fi). In my electrical panel, I have 4 female RJ45 sockets that should be connected to each room, so I stupidly unplugged one of the 4 small black cables and plugged in an Ethernet cable from my box to one of the female sockets. However, my computer plugged into the other room is not receiving a signal. Did I make a wiring mistake? Do I need to add other modules for this to work?
I am attaching a photo of my electrical panel, hoping you can understand something from it! From what I see, the line comes to the DTI box, and my Bbox is connected to the MODEM socket of that box. The 4 small black cables are connected to each female socket that I believe go to the bedroom, passing through an element called a splitter.
Thank you in advance to the experts for your help, and feel free to ask me for more information or more photos if needed!

Hello Samdu73.
I would have done like you, connect an RJ45 cable from the switch of the livebox to one of the network sockets.
The "problem" is how the network points were wired. Are there one, two, three, or four pairs of copper wires?
For telephony, one copper pair is enough.
For the network, at least 2 pairs of copper wires are needed (100 Mb). But 4 pairs is the standard (1 Gb).
Here is a link that talks about the DTI-TEST box ;o)

Come on, we believe in it ;o) -
Hello,
thank you for this very detailed photo.
Strange setup where the coaxial cables pass through the holes of the RJ45 supports.
You did well to disconnect the black cables, which are only used for analog telephony.
You need to connect these sockets to the yellow Ethernet ports of the box (at least the one you want to use), they are not specifically marked, so you will have to search a bit to find the right one.
But since the cable seems to be Cat5, the wiring of the sockets should logically be complete.
Where do you see this splitter? The one we see in the photo only concerns the TV socket...
And... there you go!
