Hi...
Neither stereo mixing nor purchasing an external sound card is necessary to solve your issue.
If you have a headphone output and a microphone input (jack sockets), you just need to assign the microphone input as a second headphone output. You can do this with the software depending on your audio driver.
For example, my PC runs on a Realtek audio chipset. I just need to open the Realtek sound manager and I can choose the function I assign to a connection by clicking on its colored icon.
