Wifi issues in new apartment

Hello everyone,
I'm coming to CCM to ask for your opinion about an issue I've encountered in my new apartment.
Classic problem: my iPhone can't pick up the WiFi from my bedroom, which is 15m away from the living room where my Orange box (fiber optic) is installed, due to the thick bearing walls separating them.
My computer, on the other hand, picks up the WiFi with 2 bars.
Fortunately, the owners had Ethernet ports installed throughout the apartment, including one in the bedroom, in fact.
What solutions are available to me, knowing that I would like to avoid a decrease in connection performance (which a powerline installation would induce), and that the box is "required" to stay in the living room to accompany the TV decoder?
Thank you very much
Raf

Hello,

With the latest powerline adapters, you can reach Gbit/s, but if there are RJ45 sockets, you should rather consider a router with a repeater function, like this one for example: http://www.zyxel.ch/fr/products/zyxel-nbg6515/

I live in a 105m2 apartment with only reinforced concrete, and by putting this router in access point mode in the middle, I have good coverage without needing a repeater. I have disabled the Wi-Fi of my box to keep only that of the Zyxel.

Best regards

Hi

That's probably what the product marketing says, but in reality, the speed between two adapters ... I seriously doubt it ... :-) (It's mainly the Ethernet port that's Gigabit ... :-)

Hi,
a wifi access point would be a simple solution in your case.
Is the fiber arriving in the living room?
It's a shame it doesn't reach the communication cabinet.
You will need to prepare 3 or 4 Ethernet cables (one to the box, one to the patch panel, and one to the access point in your room).
You would need 4 if you added a switch to the patch panel to maximize the use of the sockets.

And... There you go!

Hello,

Try Connectify on your computer; it will serve as a relay for your phone.

Instead of connecting to the box, you will do it through your computer.

it requires the PC to be running to connect the smartphone :-(
I doubt we'll be using both at the same time ...

It all depends on how the phone is used, but it's a simple and free solution to get wifi.

yes, of course,
but on the other hand, it's a waste of a fiber connection if there's a poor wifi link behind it.
It would be better for the PC to be connected via ethernet to the box, since that's possible.

It's just an opinion... the advantage is that it can move anywhere in the room without being tethered once connected to the computer... and one doesn't exclude the other.

But everyone does what they want :-)

There's a question, I'm providing my answer.

Mobility is a relative advantage if it's limited to a room.
Utilizing the available bandwidth is another, sharing the connection on the PC is also a simple solution that I have recommended many times.
He could just as well (if not better) share the connection via ethernet.
P.S.,
you shouldn't be afraid of discussing things on a forum.

You say that because you haven't seen me yet :-)
on the other hand,
it would be nice for your interlocutors if you always posted with your CCM account instead of changing your username between posts.

Exactly, but I'm not entirely responsible for this situation. Your friends from the neighboring forum "law and finance" revoked that right from me, so I sometimes get mixed up.

Here, I am nemrod18, over there I’m Marley, but I’m still the same. :-)

I don't know what you did to them, but they didn't like it, that's for sure...
