Hello,
I need help with Windows and non-Windows processes. When I open my Task Manager, in the Processes tab, some are duplicated. And in the Details tab, I have many duplicates, including explorer.exe.
I only have my session on this computer since always. I used to have Windows 7 Pro, I migrated to Windows 10, and due to motherboard issues, I reinstalled Windows 7 Pro and did all the updates to migrate back to Windows 10, and I still have duplicate processes. Is this normal or not? Because I find that it wastes memory for nothing. Certain processes like KeyScrambler I can stop one of the two, but for explorer, if I stop one, the display goes away... and I haven’t dared to test the others.
I’m attaching 4 screenshots of my Task Manager so you can see the duplicate processes.

I hope this helps, and I look forward to getting assistance if something abnormal is happening in my tower.
Thank you.

Hello,
Everything is normal.
If you had the Google Chrome browser, you would see that it opens several different processes each time, unlike Firefox which adds everything into the same process.
Regarding Explorer (3), this indicates that you have 3 different windows in use.-
Hello,
phew, if everything is normal then that's great, I'm relieved because I thought I was making a mistake with every Windows installation and program.
And just in case, I don't have any processes that resemble viruses or anything that could cause me instability?
Since I have my brother's PC and I've noticed fewer processes running on his, but he has fewer programs installed on his PC than I do. -
I still have a doubt because keyscramble opens a duplicate, and when I close the one that uses the least, nothing happens, my keyscrambler still works and for the SMSvcHost.exe it's the same, I can remove the one that consumes the least without it causing me any problems. So it may be that certain programs are the source of the problem, but is there a way to fix the issue? Because when I close just these 3 elements, I gain a bit of memory (I have a percentage indicating the memory used).
I just stopped "Service host: network system" which was duplicated and everything still works fine, so I really think I have a problem, especially since looking at my brother's PC and doing the same things, he doesn't have all these duplicate processes.- On Windows, some services are unnecessary, yet the system starts them at boot.
It's up to you to see if disabling them doesn’t interfere with the proper functioning of your system. I’m not indicating which services can be disabled, as it varies for each user.
As for software XYZ, some use multiple processes for not much.
For example:
1 to check if an update is available.
1 for online help.
1 to install the icon (taskbar, show hidden icons)
This example is taken from my touchpad (1 service and 3 processes), but with 8 GB of RAM, I no longer hunt for a few megabytes.

merci Pierrot
