My computer turns on and off in a loop.

Hello,

I'm here to ask for help because my computer shuts down 2-3 seconds after I turn it on, then 2-3 seconds later it starts up again, and so on.
Some time ago, I had the same problem which I fixed by reinstalling an operating system. Today, I don't know how I managed to do that since it stays on for only 3 seconds?
The issue isn't with the button as I swapped it with the reset and got the same result,
and I don't think the power supply is the issue since I was able to fix it last time?
If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears!

Hi,

Honestly, there are a lot of possibilities... but generally speaking, the same issues arise. Try to do each of these things in order until you find what's blocking.

1: If any devices are connected via USB (printer, for example), unplug everything and see if it works.
2: Open your PC and remove the memory. If it beeps, it means your motherboard is not dead. So try testing by putting 1 stick in 1 slot, start it up, if nothing happens, try the second slot, etc. If you have multiple RAM sticks, test each one in each of the slots until it works.

- If one stick works in one of the slots and not the others, the slots are dead.
- If one of the two sticks works in one of the slots and not the other, the stick is dead (the previous case can accumulate).
- If nothing changes, move on to the next point.
3: So now we know you have nothing particularly connected, and that your RAM and motherboard "seem" okay. So try unplugging all the hard drives and start it up. If you get to the BIOS or any other screen, the issue is likely coming from there.

Let me know what you find out, and I'll reply tomorrow morning.

I still recommend testing with a new power supply, because "I was able to fix it last time" -> even if the problem seems identical, that isn't necessarily the case ^^

Hello and thank you
5 years later, your method allowed me to restart my PC.

Well, you see I have the same problem, it's due to the heat, nothing to do with everything else or the processor's leg hardening. I put a cold air fan in front, no more startup problems, so it's the heat with a PC that cost me 3000 euros lol. I have 6 fans with the largest diameter.
