HP Compaq dc5750 PC - red light + 4 beeps on startup

Hello,

I have a problem with my HP Compaq, it won’t turn on, the fans don’t spin anymore, nothing, it just makes 4 short beeps, a pause, and then 4 beeps again. There is also a red light on the front panel.
Since it’s very windy today, we had some brief power cuts that the computer probably didn’t appreciate! Note that it was off this morning, can power cuts damage a device that is turned off?

    Beeps have different meanings:

    Power cuts can obviously damage the hardware.

    This must be related to the motherboard or RAM

    Things don't look good for you.

      According to your link, the 4 beeps mean the motherboard is defective... indeed, if that's the case, it doesn't look good ;) Can I send the invoice to EDF???

      You can try, but you risk getting fired. However, make sure that's really it; also try removing and reinserting your RAM sticks.
