Hello,
VirtualBox installed on Windows 7 to run Windows XP for software that only works on XP.
Never had an issue, but following an update of VirtualBox that failed to complete, Oracle VirtualBox no longer launches and I've lost access to XP and the software.
After this update, Oracle crashed and the virtual PC no longer starts?
Failed to open session for the virtual machine aaa.

The virtual machine 'aaa' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code 1 (0x1). More details may be available in 'C:\Users\Maryse\VirtualBox VMs\aaa\Logs\VBoxHardening.log'.

Error code: E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component: MachineWrap
Interface: IMachine {f30138d4-e5ea-4b3a-8858-a059de4c93fd}

Thank you for your insights, and please advise on how to repair without throwing everything away.
Best regards

I don't remember exactly and I'm on Linux, but if you right-click on the .exe and click on properties, you can say that it's a software for Windows XP and it will work on Windows 7.

I tried several solutions, but with no result... how to properly uninstall VirtualBox, so I can reinstall it without encountering any corrupted or altered files... thank you

Having not received a response and not finding a procedure in French, I uninstalled with CCleaner, which did no better than the Windows uninstaller. Once finished, I went into the registry and found some keys, so CCleaner didn't clean up properly! As for Revo, it didn't find Oracle, even when using the target?
So I reinstalled, and confirmed traces of the previous installation since I had to change the machine name after receiving a message indicating that it already existed, even though no machine was displayed..... I put another name and the installation went smoothly. ...remains to ensure proper functioning regarding these traces ....to be continued....;0)))))

Thank you for this good intention, but it doesn't work for my software.... I did:

a right-click on the installation executable icon and clicked on Properties.
In the Compatibility tab, I checked the box Run this program as an administrator, also in the settings, Windows XP, 256 screen resolution 640x480, run this program as an administrator....
When I launch it, I get an error message: The version of this file is incompatible with the version of Windows you're using.
No matter how I adjust the config, I still get the same message... ;o((((

The OS is installed and it works perfectly
    Thank you
