Antenna short circuit on new TNT decoder. Solved

Question

Hello, I am switching from a Metronic Terbox Fransat SD decoder to a new one: the Strong SRT7405 FRANSAT HD The SD works very well, but when I connect the HD, I get a message that says: "antenna short circuit. check your installation." I deduce that the connections of the antenna cable are satisfactory for the SD but not for the HD...(?) I checked the plug that connects to the decoder, it seems fine. I still need to check the other end (at the satellite dish) tomorrow. Do you think it really is a cable problem? Could there be compatibility issues between the antenna (Metronic) and the decoder (Strong)? Are you familiar with this type of message when connecting a TV to a decoder? Thanks in advance.

I just went to check the threaded F-type connector that is connected to the satellite dish. Everything seems normal, and by the way, the TV is receiving the channels in SD very well... I still don't understand what's going on...

TNT ?? antenna with a rake = TNT adapter or TNT television 0/+5V switchable dish antenna = satellite terminal or satellite television CI+ +13 or 18V

Hello To please Gil, who is very particular about TNT choices, I redirected to satellite.........  But you didn't say if the SD was still connected when the HD is plugged in.

Hello and thank you for your answers. These are indeed TNT decoders connected alternately to the satellite dish. No rooftop antenna. When I connect the old Metronic Terbox Fransat decoder to the antenna, I receive the channels in SD. When I connect the new Strong SRT7405 FRANSAT HD decoder in its place, it starts the searching procedure and shows me the message of antenna short circuit. If I need to check the condition of the wire connection at the antenna, where should I go? Which part of the antenna needs to be disassembled? The LNB?

maybe a bad setting on the supply voltage of the head?? like set to 24 v instead of 18?  I don't really see that. What is it? Does it concern the plug?

Isn't there a greater sensitivity issue when it's HD, and therefore a possibility of malfunction just because of this sensitivity?

In the specifications of the demodulator it is noted: "LNB power polarization: 13/18 V, 400 mA, overload protected" whereas the old one was with a max of 350 mA, so apparently no issues with consumption............ maybe it needs to be set to 13 V??, what was the old one set to?  where do we make this kind of adjustments? I don’t see it at all.

Well, I'm back to deliver the epilogue of this "short circuit" story... It was the power cord of the decoder box that was at fault! So Hombourgeois was on the right track, I think, with his thoughts about the voltage, because I tried another similar cord for the connection (the one from an electric anti-cellulite massage device). And there, no more short circuit message problems! I will therefore claim the warranty with the store that sold it to me and proceed to exchange the decoder. Resolved then!
