Microsoft basic display adapter issue (code 31)

Hello everyone,

For a while now I've been having a problem with my Microsoft basic graphics card, I'm getting the message "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)"

So I can't play certain online or installed games like Minecraft, Star Stable (which has fewer fps than before),...

I have a Windows 8.1 computer that is just under two years old and has a 64-bit operating system.

I have always had good quality on games and it has only changed since I've had this issue.

This happened to me with a brightness bug (it was dark).

Thanks a lot! :)

  1. Hello,

Have you tried updating the drivers?

    1. I just can't do it, and I'm getting the same error message, and it's impossible to go back to the previous version.

    2. How do you go about updating them?

    3. @Un CaennaisI open the search (Windows 8 version) and I search for "Device manager" and I open "Device Manager". I open the "folder" "Graphics Cards" and I open "Microsoft Basic Video Adapter".

I open the driver tab and I click "update".

    4. This method may work, but don't settle for it ;)
      Go to this link: https://www.driverscloud.com/fr/demarrer
Download the agent, and once installed, click on "Start detection".
After a few seconds, a page will display summarizing your configuration. Click on "My drivers" and download those for the graphics card. By the way, you can download the others if you want (I recommend it, but that's not the issue for now ;) )
