Hello, my name is Antoine, and I would like to know if I can play The Witcher 3 at 15 years old. Considering that my parents think GTA V is too violent (on the other hand, there is realistic violence and fantasy violence ^^). Thank you in advance,

Antoine.

Hello.

Sorry to disappoint you, but no, The Witcher 3 is not a game for a 15-year-old.

Even if we put aside the violence, it turns out that the story is written for an adult audience; I'm not talking about sex (even though there is some) but definitely about the story itself as well as what’s happening in the country (war and politics).

Yes, I have watched the series, read the books, and the comic of Game of Thrones; the politics of this game is not difficult for me to understand (well, based on what I've read) ^^

Besides, I am a politician, so it doesn't pose any problem for me.

You should realize that you are wrong when you turn 18... but you can be 18 and have the maturity of a 12-year-old... the opposite is also true.
As for me, the people most capable of answering are your parents, and that has already been judged, hasn't it?

Anyway, the PEGI labels or others have always been behind the times.

When Theme Park was released on PlayStation in 1995, it stated that it could be played from the age of 3.

My 3-year-old daughter has no knowledge of management. She just knows that you need coins to ride the rides, but she doesn't know which ones.

And for your information, Final Fantasy 7 is prohibited for those under 12. Personally, I would have banned it for those under 16 due to the complexity of the plot.

Pegi is useless

PEGI is a recommendation for the minimum age relative to a risk for the child; it has nothing to do with the child's ability.

Thank you all, here is my opinion following your responses:

The Witcher 3 is quite violent, and I would need my parents' permission to buy it, in which case I will wait until I'm 16.
The game is also rated PEGI 18 due to its political complexity and the immorality present (even if I would never choose to be a bastard).

Thank you all, and I hope I can still get this awesome game ^^, if not, then when I turn 16.

Best regards,

Antoine

Hi,

On the PEGI website, we can read about TW3:
The content of this game is suitable for persons aged 18 years and over only.
It contains: Extreme violence - Violence towards defenceless people - Strong language

In short -> the content of this game is suitable only for persons aged 18 and over.
It contains: extreme violence, violence towards weak/defenceless people, and more than vulgar language.

Best regards,

Titou

Yes, but I remind you that in America, Batman games are rated M for Mature (18) and here they are rated 16. In America, video games are more targeted towards adults, whereas in France they are more geared towards teens. And in terms of violence, I watch horror mangas that are much worse, or series like GOT, The Walking Dead, etc.

Thanks for replying ^^

It is well known that Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead air every Sunday morning on TF1 since they are children's series.

Even so, if it tickles your funny bone to see a guy decapitate others, cut off limbs, or stab his sword into the heart of an enemy (human or otherwise), I’m not sure everything that happens throughout the quest of the Bloody Baron is really appropriate for your age.

As for Batman, he doesn't kill his enemies but knocks them out. He himself doesn't die; he gets captured by his enemies. That’s why it is restricted for those under 16 years old.

Yes, but precisely: there are deserved 18+ ratings (GTA V, Skyrim, etc.), and unjustified 18+ ratings like Batman: Arkham Knight. For me, the number on the box doesn't indicate whether the game is too violent: having watched Bob Lennon’s let's plays, I find that the European version (censored) is closer to the unjustified rating than the deserved one.
What I am looking to know on this topic is whether I am right or wrong.

Thank you for responding ^^
