What is this box for?

Hello everyone,

I just moved into a new place, and I've noticed this box in my apartment (see photo in the link), and I'm not really sure what it's for, considering I live in a studio apartment. My landlord told me it was for the internet but didn't elaborate. (I don't know much about this area).

It looks like the wiring of RJ45 Ethernet cables, to be confirmed.

I tried to insert an RJ45 cable, but the connectors are too small for it to fit.
