Hello everyone,
I just moved into an apartment (new, one year old) and to my great surprise, I just saw that it is equipped with RJ45 (Ethernet) sockets in every room.
I thought that by connecting my SFR box to one of them, it would spread the internet connection to all the others. However, when I connect an Ethernet cable to another wall socket, it doesn't work. I have an Xbox that doesn't have Wi-Fi in one of the rooms and I don't want to run a 30-meter Ethernet cable through the apartment ^^
I've read all sorts of things online to try to use this type of socket, but it seems too complicated. Could you please let me know how to make it work?
I've seen that I might need to set the box to "router" mode, or to connect the box to a specific socket in the apartment to deploy the network in a star configuration.
Thank you very much in advance for your replies :)
Have a great day

Hello,
indeed you need to place your box near the communication cabinet and connect the Ethernet ports to the sockets on the patch panel (where the labels with the names of the rooms are).
Nothing should be on the test socket of the DTI and connect the ADSL from the box to the modem output of the filter with an RJ11 cable.
PS,
on the RJ45 (8P8C) sockets, just because there are 8 contacts, doesn’t mean there are 8 wires connected behind.
If it's done correctly, you have 4 pairs, if done incorrectly, you may only have one.
