No video signal

I have a Philips TV model no. 42PFL4007H/12 connected simply to the 220V mains power and an old-fashioned antenna with an olive-shaped connector.
When I turn it on to watch basic channels, it displays a black screen with "DVD player" and then "no video signal."
So for the "DVD player," I no longer have the original remote but a universal one.
And what does "no video signal" mean, and how can I fix this issue so that basic channels can be viewed?
