Hello everyone,
I was trying to open a Word document from my USB drive on a computer that doesn't have that software, so I turned to the internet to find a solution, and since I'm a whiz at computers, I ended up with DS_STORE files that I still can't open... so I'm not much further along. If you have any tips for a big novice, I'd appreciate it!

Good evening Misswave,
actually, Apple's DS_Store files are more or less the equivalent of Thumbs files on Windows,
they are hidden files on Mac that are used for thumbnail visualization, icons, etc.
They pose neither danger nor any particular interest...
To open a Word file without Word on Windows, there is WordPad, or Notepad which will not retain the styles or formatting, on a Mac, the default word processing software should do the trick (by drag-and-drop) otherwise I don't know...
Once that's resolved, you can delete the DS_Store files without risk...
See you later
:-)
