Creation of a CMYK Color Flyer (Publisher)

Hello,

I am currently trying to create my own commercial flyer for my business. I had Publisher 2013 at my disposal.

I have finalized my work, pleased with the result I imagined sending it to a printer who almost all require a file in CMYK color mode ...

Publisher 2013 does indeed export to PDF ... but it seems the color is RGB. I have the impression that this version of Publisher does not allow me to achieve this result. I tried to enter the color codes of my fonts directly in CMYK, but nothing works, upon saving or exporting, it does not seem to function.

I read that GIMP could perform this conversion. By the way, I did this: http://dcorbille.free.fr/?p=836

I get a darker result; the pinks become cream pink .... and the flashy green turns into military green ... the light blue ... dark blue.
My images do not seem to change ... but I have a doubt.

I feel like I have worked for nothing ... Wanting to save money on the creation, I am afraid of spending unnecessarily on printing and being disappointed with the result.

If the color of the fonts changes, what will happen to the color of the images I downloaded (in quality) and integrated into the document?

My question is, at this point, what do you advise me to do? I understood that Publisher 2007 and 2010 allowed working in CMYK. Is it possible to make adjustments now based on my document?

    I don't have the 2013 version, but I have the 2010 one, and I assume it should be pretty much the same thing..

    In the "File" menu, you should have a section called "Professional Print Settings".. by clicking on this button, various options will be offered, including the choice to select a color model.. Choose CMYK.

    Indeed, the "flashy" colors of RGB will darken, and that's normal.. it's up to you to adjust your composition to give it a more contrasted look with CMYK colors.

    Thank you for your help, you are the only one who has intervened to assist me, it is appreciated.

    Have you checked that the publisher export file to PDF properly adheres to the CMYK color code?

    I had thought about using software like PDF Creator to convert the JPG or TIFF file to PDF, but since the TIFF seems to be in RGB...

    I am looking on Google, I find very little information. In the end, do you have a tip to check that a PDF file indeed contains the CMYK color code?

    I saw a video on YouTube about this modification to make in the Publisher options.
    It seems that Microsoft has removed this option in the new 2013 version.

    I think I should switch to an earlier version ...

    In your opinion, if I export my file to a PUBLISHER 2010 version, and I modify the CMYK settings in the professional printing options ... will this give me a final file in CMYK ??

    Does Publisher also convert RGB to CMYK for the photos I have integrated ??

    How does the export to PDF work? Will it also be in CMYK?

    It's surprising that the professional printing option was removed in the 2013 version... it must be located somewhere else...
    MS has a strange way of looking at the ergonomics of its programs...!

    In the 2010 version, saving as PDF from the "File" menu also converts images. Choose the "high quality print" option in the settings (the "save as" window) and you should get a CMYK PDF file...
    You can also define a custom paper size. This way, you'll have crop marks and bleed if you planned them correctly in your layout.

    However, Publisher does not define page areas according to Adobe standards. Printers may have trouble navigating through it... So, try to set the custom size with simple values.. for example for A4, add 2cm making it 23 x 31.7cm for the print paper.

    After a Google search, it seems that I'm not the only one having difficulty with this 2013 version of Publisher. This feature appears to have been removed to the great dismay of users like me!

    So I downloaded the trial version of Publisher 2010. The feature is indeed present, and after activation, it modifies the colors I've chosen.

    I would like to have more vibrant colors. I looked at the color codes provided by sites like: http://toutes-les-couleurs.com/code-couleur-cmjn.php

    The candy pink, for example, consists of (0%, 74%, 37%, 2%)... if I enter these values into Publisher 2010, I do not get the same reference pink from the color palette provided by the site. I'm having a hard time understanding?

      Candy pink is mostly between 80 and 100 of magenta. If you add yellow, you’ll move towards red (as for the 2% black, it's negligible).

      The problem with Publisher is that it cannot simulate the color correctly. Furthermore, I'm not sure you have a screen with proper calibration...

        If Publisher cannot correctly simulate color, how can I find the references I want?

        Can I rely on the color palettes provided by these sites: http://toutes-les-couleurs.com/code-couleur-cmjn.php

        and even if the rendering is different with Publisher?

    I just did a test on Publisher 2010 ...

    - So I took my file created on Publisher 2013 ... RGB ...
    - In Publisher 2010, I activated the CMYK mode ... The colors were modified ...
    - I changed all the colors according to the CMYK palette and codes provided by certain sites ...
    - I exported it as a TIF ....

    When opening the TIF file, I realized that the colors with CMYK codes do not match the palette. The candy pink is brown cream ... the azure blue leans towards a midnight blue ... Weird ...

    Right-click on the TIF file exported from Publisher, properties and there I see a BIG disappointment! In the file details, under photometric interpretation, I see: RGB ....

    I don't understand ... please help.

    I just checked, and indeed the recording in TIF format is done in RGB..

    It's the recording in PDF "High Quality Print" that keeps the document in CMYK and converts the images.

    You need at least Acrobat "Pro" or addon software to view the color space of a PDF file...

    I don't remember if PDFCreator allows RGB to CMYK conversion... It would need to be tested by going through the printer (and checking the conversion settings available in the software dashboard).

    I don't have these software. So I'm wondering about the color space of the file exported by Publisher... would you have the possibility to try it on your end if you have these software?

    If it doesn’t work, I might have to start everything over on another software...
