Hello,
I’m not sure if a thread like this already exists, and I apologize if it does, but I haven’t found anything.
I’m completely hopeless when it comes to computers.
I’ve retrieved the hard drive from my MacBook Pro, and I would like to recover my information on my new PC, which is running Windows 8.
I bought the enclosure that allows me to connect the hard drive via USB.
When I connect it, my PC recognizes it (it shows up in my devices), but I don’t know how to extract the information...
I’ve downloaded MacDrive and even HFSExplorer, but it doesn’t recognize the hard drive.
How can I recover my data?
Thanks in advance...

Welcome to the Forum, luviswhatuneed :) !
It is true that MAC OS and Windows use different file systems. A hard drive formatted in HFS+ cannot be natively read by Windows, hence the need to change the file system of the drive that should be read/written. I'm sending you an article from this Forum that talks about it: https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-37636360-disques-durs-externes-ou-cles-usb-sous-mac-os Sometimes the intervention of certain third-party utilities (such as the tools you have implemented) is necessary. Some are free, but there are also paid alternatives.
@luviswhatuneed, if you could access (if possible) another MAC to connect the external hard drive (via an external enclosure) > retrieve the information > then reformat the external hard drive assigning it a format that could be read/written by both OS (ExFAT, FAT32) > transfer the information onto it to retrieve it later on your PC. I realize this suggestion may seem a bit basic but it is a possibility to consider. What do you think?
