Footnotes on all pages

Hello dear internet users,
I am facing a small issue that I can't resolve,
I am working on the latest version of Word for word processing, and I need to make a footnote for a bibliographic reference, but when I wrote it, it ended up on all the pages of my assignment and I don't know what to do...
And even when I try to delete it from a page where I don't want it to appear, it removes it everywhere, including on the page where it should appear...
In short, I'm stuck, if you could help me you would save me.
Have a good day,
Best regards,

Double-click on your word,

Then, in the menu bar at the top:

Reference -> Insert Note

And it creates a footnote, only on the page where you just created your note!

Hello

Exactly DesktunK ;-) it's indeed the 'footnotes' function that should be used

I'd like to add that you can also place the cursor right after the word to annotate and press Ctrl+Alt+B (Word shortcut to insert a footnote)

Hello,

the "latest version of Word"? I hope not the 2016 one, because it is still in US beta and even though no issues have been observed in that regard, it is not stable.
That said, you may have confused "footer" and "footnote". Try the DesTunk response, it's the correct procedure.

So it would be from the 2013 version?
Because this manipulation doesn't seem to be possible on Word 2010!

Hello Raymond,

The order proposed by DesTunk is valid for all versions:
References tab, "Insert Footnote" (or "Insert Endnote" if you prefer to group your notes at the end of the document).
In versions prior to 2007, it's in the Insert menu, Reference.

Sorry, C-Claire :
- I'm entering text in the footer: it displays on all my pages
- I select this text on one of the pages
- I go to the References tab: the Insert Footnote tool is grayed out!

I remind you that Laulauww asked, "And even when I try to delete it on a page where I don't want it to appear, it deletes it everywhere, including on the page where it should appear...". Yet you have explained how to "Insert a footnote", which everyone (except Laulauww) knows how to do ...

Raymond,

I didn't understand your comment nor why you're trying to add a footnote in a footer. It's normal for the insert note command to be grayed out in a header or footer.
