Hello, there is no driver that is worth anything, you need a firewire ieee1394 port on your PC. Read the bold part of my presentation

Transfer mini DV tape to laptop or PC, the laptop or PC must have a firewire or ilink (ieee1394) port; it's the same thing, transfer using a video editing software like Windows Live Movie Maker or iMovie (Mac) or commercial editing software. The computer recognizes the camcorder immediately for capture
A firewire ieee1394 (ilink) internal card can be easily installed on a PC tower
If it is a laptop that does not have this port, a second solution - check if the laptop has a slot on the side for "express card" (pcmcia) protected by a fake plastic card. There are firewire express card adapters available:
    https://www.amazon.fr/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=firewire+expresscard&tag=googhydr0a8-21&index=aps&hvadid=9215056378&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=101097741010537552&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&ref=pd_sl_6kh108ih4c_b
The 3rd ultimate solution: you need to buy an analog to USB converter box
This box or key handles the conversion "hardware of the analog stream to digital" and connects to the computer via a USB cable, the file is converted to mpeg2, a format easy to burn and compatible with all players, with the possibility of editing with "Studio"
Connect the box and camcorder with a recommended S-video connection (5-pin round socket) or composite (less good) (yellow RCA) and a cord for sound (2 RCA red, white). For the VCR, you need a scart connection with an adapter or cord with the direction "out" or with an in/out switch for S/VHS output or composite yellow RCA (less good) plus sound, two RCA outputs red and white
I recommend the Dazzle box either "recorder" or "video creator, platinum" depending on the need
the price of the software included with the latter makes the product interesting
there are cheaper products but be careful, they can be sources of issues

The image quality can only be judged on the TV screen once the film is burned

Hello Glandu lol. Thank you for your response. I have a laptop without a slot on the side, so only the third solution seems suitable for me, and given the complexity of implementation (complex for me), I will try to bring my movies with the camcorder to a professional who should be able to copy them onto a CD for me. Thanks again for answering my question precisely. Thierry (Th 63)

Hello, I understand, but you can limit the expense by only transferring your raw films to a USB key or an external hard drive that you provide. This is commonly done.
