Loud sound issue Yamaha Ax-590

Hello everyone,
Last night, at a party at my place, I used my HiFi system to play music, quite loud I must say. After about an hour, the music stopped and I couldn't turn the volume up again without the system shutting down! However, below that threshold, the music plays just fine, no problem. My setup consists of a Yamaha AX-590 amplifier, which turns off as soon as I crank it up too loud (about 1/3 of what the dial allows, the scale indicates around 24). For the audio source, I connected my phone to a Yamaha player via a USB port. The speakers are JMlab Opal 29 TI. To put it simply, I really know nothing about HiFi systems and have no idea why the system shuts down like that...
If anyone has a solution, thank you in advance! I can provide more info if needed!

Configuration: Windows 7 / Chrome 41.0.2272.89

    Hi,

A hi-fi amplifier is not designed to handle its full power for more than half an hour!
For that, there are PA amplifiers!

It's certain that your amplifier took a hit, now it's a matter of finding out where the problem is... only a hi-fi technician will be able to tell you more.
