Hello
find a response in this forum, on the same error message
After performing a jam check and resetting the purge, the error message 51 is still displayed. Then I lifted the double cover of the scanner and observed the scanning during the reapplication of 220 V, and I found it strange that a gear was not turning all the time. So on the right side of the roller, there is a gear to check because in my case it was cracked and therefore only turned without effort. I disassembled it, cleaned it along with the shaft, and glued it. Upon reconnecting the power, no more error 51 and the printer works. As for the duration, it will depend on the glue.
The gear is made of white plastic and has straight teeth and is located at the end of the roller shaft on the right side, visible as soon as you open the 2 scanner covers. When the covers are lifted, you need to press a button on the right side to validate the cover closing; otherwise, you won’t see the scanning.

cleaning impossible error 51
Procedure for models DCP-130C, DCP-330C, DCP-357C, DCP-540C, DCP-750C:
Turn on the machine.
Press, successively, `Menu`, `Mono Start`, and press the up arrow 4 times within 5 seconds to enter maintenance mode.
With the up (?) or down (?) buttons, display "80" and confirm with "Menu/Confirm"
Press the `Mono Start` button several times until the purge counter appears.
To reset the counter to "00000", you need to enter the value "2783": successively display the digits 2, 7, 8, and 3 using the (?) or (?) buttons and confirm with the `Confirm` button each time.
To exit, press the `Stop/Exit` button.
Enter the digits 9, 9 with the arrows to exit maintenance mode.
I don't know if it's the same issue, but give it a try!

Thank you very much because I had exactly the same breakdown (split sprocket) and it works now.
