Voilà la soluce made in Knowledge Base de Microsoft, en fait les utilisateurs n'ont pas accès à certaines clès de la base de registre !!

Users Group Members Cannot Use Spelling Checker in Word 97
The information in this article applies to:
Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
Microsoft Office 97 for Windows
SYMPTOMS
Users who are members of the local Users group may be unable to use the Spelling Checker feature in Office. There is no error message, but spell checking is not initiated.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the Users group does not have sufficient rights to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Proofing Tools\Spelling
RESOLUTION
To reset the permissions:
Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
Select the registry key listed in the "Cause" section.
On the Security menu, click Permissions.
Click Advanced.
Click the Users group in the Permissions Entries box, and then click Edit on the View menu.
Click to select the Allow check box for the Set Value and Create Subkeys permissions.
Click OK.
Click OK.
Quit Registry Editor.
