simple method in Photoshop:

- assume a page on a layer
- select the corner to make disappear and delete it
- new layer
- pen tool / path mode: trace the turned corner like this:
- switch to shape mode and apply a gradient:
- use the move/arrow key to get more precision in the gradient orientation
- add a drop shadow

to refine according to the desired results

there exist scripts to do this kind of effect automatically
