Hello everyone,
I have a quick question about Word: how can I easily see how many characters my text contains in a document?
I have some small assignments for a few magazines and I need to provide an exact character count per paper!

Look at the very bottom of the file in the "words" tab. By right-clicking on this tab, you can access the complete statistics:
In Word 2007, you need to go to Tools > Word Count
In Word 2016, you need to go to Review > Word Count
- the number of words
- the number of characters (excluding spaces)
- the number of characters (including spaces)
- number of paragraphs, etc.
In Word 2007, you need to go to Tools > Word Count
In Word 2016, you need to go to Review > Word Count
Because the question was asked in 2003, before the release of Microsoft Office 2007.
Besides, Jacques Leblanc has probably solved his problem by now, after 9 and a half years!
Just try it out with a simple sentence...
