Hello,
I have a serious problem and I hope someone can help me.
I created an Excel page that includes several Active X controls (Labels, Text Box, Drop-down List). All these controls worked perfectly until this morning. Nothing works anymore. It's also impossible to add new Active X Controls. I should mention that I've been using this Excel page for over a year without any issues with my controls before.
I know that there was an automatic Windows update during the night; could the problem come from this update?
I tried to modify the Active X settings but nothing works.
For your information, I am using Windows 7.
Thank you for your help.

Sorry, I had already tried modifying all the Active X settings and seeing what that gives. I still get the message "Cannot insert an object." And this message appears no matter which control I want to insert.
The same goes for new Excel pages I try to create.
Any other ideas? -
Finally, I managed to solve my problem.
For your information, here’s what I did.
As mentioned in my initial message, I suspected that the problem could be caused by an automatic Windows update last night; 22 updates were done.
I therefore disabled each of these updates one by one until I found the one causing the issue with the ActiveX controls.
Conclusion: It’s Microsoft Office 2010 Service Pack 2 (KB2687453) that is the cause of all this mess.-
Thank you JRuest
You saved my day.
Like you, I have tried everything regarding Excel options without success.
So I was eagerly waiting for this issue to come up in a forum...
Could you please just remind me in a few lines of the procedure to disable this Pack2 update?
Have you reported the issue officially to Microsoft?
Thank you
Toma81- Hello Toma81,
Glad I could help you out.
To disable this update, you need to:
1) Open Windows Update
2) Click on the option View update history
3) Then select Installed updates
4) From this option, you can disable the Pack2 update.
Indeed, I notified Microsoft but I haven't received any confirmation email from them.
Best regards,

Glad to hear that you managed to work around the issue.
It happens a bit too often that updates cause problems.
Best regards

Hello
Click on the Microsoft Office Image button from the Office button at the bottom of the dialog box, then click on Excel Options.
Click on Trust Center, then on Trust Center Settings, and then on ActiveX Settings.
wishing you success
