Failed to obtain IP address on PS3 Solved/Closed

IP address acquisition failure issue
I start from the beginning... I am the happy owner of a PS3 and I often play online, especially Resistance: Fall of Man. However, last night I turned on my console...
During this time (and I'm not sure if it has something to do with it), my brother is setting up the Wi-Fi connection on his laptop directly connected to our Neuf Box. Suddenly, A CONNECTION ERROR OCCURRED (80130319)
I tested my connection all evening and all morning, and always the same result! IP address acquisition failed!

I looked on help forums to try to solve the problem...
I noted on a site that the IP address should not be similar to that of the PC (well, the subnet mask is always the same, and for the default gateway and DNS servers 1 and 2, I don't really know much). Anyway, I followed all the new instructions for configuring differently, but nothing works... I'm in crisis!

So if any of you can help me, I'm all ears!
Is there a connection with my brother's laptop? A router issue (by the way, I don't understand this computer jargon...) I am connected via Wi-Fi.

Moreover, I don't even remember what my configuration was before it crashed, whether automatic (only God knows) but here is the one for the main PC (not the laptop).

Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS 1: 192.168.1.1
DNS 2: 192.168.1.1

Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0

HEY GUYS,

I had the same problem as you, and when I read this post, I was able to solve my issue!!!

Let me explain: After trying to reset the livebox, and after entering all the necessary information for the connection, I decided to go directly into the livebox settings.

In these settings, you need to go to "wireless network," then "DISABLE MAC FILTERING." Until then, it had been enabled, and since the disabling, everything works perfectly!

I hope I have addressed your problems that were mine before.

I don't have a PS3 but a DS... I had a similar problem; my dad had just set up his new laptop with Wi-Fi. The fact is that the IP address I had on the DS and on the laptop was the same, so that’s why it wasn't working. So if you have the same IP address, one of the two will need to change it.

Yeah, I did the same as masse64, you have to press the button 1 on the back of the livebox and start the connection test with the parameters set to automatic while the buttons on the livebox are blinking, then for me, they asked me to install a system update for my PS3, I turned it off and then turned my play back on and I was able to enjoy tons of hours of my favorite games ^^

Hello everyone, so I'm having trouble connecting to the network with the PS3. It's pretty simple, but you need to look for it. Go to

-the settings of your modem 192.168.1.1
-press the AOSS button on your modem
-validate your access
-go to the wifi tab
and finally go to the MAC filtering tab and disable the filtering activation tab

I have the same problem, my console can't get an IP address over Wi-Fi.
It’s been like this since January (but until now I didn't care, I was playing Fallout 3), what's surprising is that it used to work very well before. I wonder if something has actually broken in the console and if I need to use the warranty...

Well, I found the solution: you have to go into the livebox settings (livebox icon created during the wanadoo installation or through your browser at 192.168.1.1)
There, I clicked on "Wireless network" and saw that the security was set to WPA. I changed it to WEP, hit "apply," and bingo, the console can reconnect.
It's true that I had done a factory reset on my livebox a few months ago, so I think that's where it came from.

I had the same problem; I couldn't connect my PS3 to my Livebox. During the connection test, it couldn't find the IP address; it said "Failed"!!
In the end, you need to press the button 1 on the back of the Livebox when you start the connection test... and it works...

Hi, well I have a bit of the same problem. A friend of mine managed to connect to the internet with his PlayStation 3. So he tried the same settings for me. However, the IP address is set to automatic.
All the PCs in the house connect to the Livebox without any problem but not the Play. Sorry, I'm really bad with computers, the solution shouldn't be complicated but I need it explained in simple terms ^__^'

Personally, I properly observed the capital letters of my web key (bbox) and there you go, it works. First unsuccessful attempt (failure to obtain IP address) with lowercase letters.
