IP Address Localization Issue

Hello,

I would need more information regarding geolocation based on IP addresses.

Let me explain, generally speaking, whether it's Facebook, Gmail, or Chrome, the geolocation is satisfactory for the most part.

However, a few times from my laptop - and not from my iPhone on 3G - when searching for my location, I am geolocated 100km away from home, whereas usually, even if it's not my city, it's still in the vicinity. I should specify that I'm not using GPS; it's about the position of the IP address.

The "bug" has occurred several times, and geolocation always places me in the same location, in the same city, far from home. With IP searches via various websites, I've tried several, and they consistently show the same result, 100km away from my home, but when I reboot the router, it geolocates me right at home, to the nearest street.

Does anyone have an explanation? Because if it were a random bug, why do the "wrong" geolocations always end up in the same place? The country is vast!

Thank you in advance for your responses!

    Hi,
once again, geolocation of IP addresses doesn't exist.
It only relies on the information that you or your ISP are willing to provide about that address.
If you write on a network that your address is located in Vladivostok, all the clients of that site will see you in Vladivostok.
