Hello,

I need to access the BIOS of a Dell R720 server to reactivate the graphics chipset. I can’t go up to the server, so I’m using the iDRAC interface.

I’d simply like to know if it’s possible to access the BIOS through iDRAC without using the virtual console (since there’s no display with the graphics chipset disabled)?

It’s a bit of a quirky problem but it requires a rapid intervention on my part.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Best regards.

Hello

It’s a bit strange, like a problem.

The console, in the IDRAC, should work .....

Otherwise, I don’t think we can access the BIOS without that.

Or use the racadm commands ..
We need to find the one that fits ....

the commands here..

Only the RDP connection works once the services are started, and in that case, there is no access to the BIOS possible.
The console won’t respond.. it probably must be based on the chipset.
I will look into these commands, even if I have no idea how they are used (for the moment).

How could the graphics chipset have been disabled? There must be a way to get display output, integrated graphics or an additional graphics card. They can't both be disabled at the same time...

Someone disabled it to ensure the graphics card was taken into account at system startup. As a result, it’s impossible to do what’s needed remotely to fix it.

We need to tell someone to reactivate...

but the problem with the virtual console must come from somewhere else.
Java problem?

I use ILO which also runs in Java and I don’t have any issue with my HP ProLiant servers. So the best solution would be to go on-site, I think, because remotely I’m afraid I won’t be able to take control.
