Receiving an email from the juvenile crime squad.

Hello,
I received an email claiming that I was supposedly communicating with a 16-year-old minor and that there were photos of me.
I was scared and replied to this email right away, but afterward I came to the blog and when I see your testimonials, I think I got scammed. However, what worries me is knowing if by replying my email account has been hacked? And if so, what should I do? Thank you for your help.

Thank you very much for posting this. I received exactly the same email on Thursday from the Paris juvenile brigade and before that from Poitiers. If I hadn't received it a second time, I would never have looked into it. I replied to that email but never received a response, neither the first time nor the last. They claim that the prosecutor will be informed if I do not respond within 24 hours and that I supposedly had contact with a 16-year-old minor and that they have photos of me nude on several sites. Of course, I am not guilty of these things. But there are photos of me on my device, and I don't know if they have manipulated one of them to create a montage.

Hello, my name is Anthony and I just received the same message today. But being used to fake accounts and fake emails, I replied to them that they were impersonating the police and that no officer can share such images without our permission.

Hello,

I quote: "that no police officer can share this kind of image without our authorization."
So if I follow your reasoning, I ask for your permission to share, therefore I am a police officer!
No, no police officer would act this way.

Best regards.

DIRECTORATE GENERAL OF THE JUDICIAL POLICE

DIRECTORATE FOR THE PROTECTION OF MINORS

Paris, August 27, 2020

To your attention:

Dear Sir,

I am Mrs. YVETTE BERTRAND, divisional commissioner, head of the child protection brigade (BPM), I am contacting you shortly after a computer seizure by Cyber-infiltration (authorized, notably in matters of child pornography, pedophilia, Cyber pornography, exhibitionism, sexual trafficking since 2009) to inform you that you are the subject of several ongoing Judicial Proceedings:

_ Child pornography

_ Pedophilia

_ Exhibitionism

_ Cyber pornography

_ Sexual trafficking

For your information, the law of March 2007 increases penalties when proposals, sexual assaults or rapes have been committed using the internet and you have committed the offenses after being targeted online (advertising site), then during email exchanges (Instant Messaging) with several minors, the nude photos of you that you send to minors have been recorded by our cyber gendarme and constitute evidence of your offenses.

You are requested to be heard by email by sending us your justifications so that they can be examined and verified in order to assess the sanctions, this within a strict deadline of 24 hours. After this deadline, we will be obliged to forward our report to Ms. Myriam Quemener, deputy prosecutor at the high court of Créteil and specialist in cybercrime to establish an arrest warrant against you, to transmit it to the nearest gendarmerie to your place of residence for your arrest and to register you as a sex offender, and to forward your file to several national news television channels for a broadcast so that your family, your relatives, and all of France will see what you do in front of your computer.

Now you have been warned.
Sincerely,

Mrs. YVETTE BERTRAND, Divisional Commissioner,

Absolutely agree, I've never believed in that bullshit, it's like those who send friend requests via Skype and everything we sell on Leboncoin, we receive a text and they expect your answer in an email; when it's serious, you call the mobile directly!!!

Hello!!

You're very likely not to get a response.. Plus, you're making them laugh because they're well hidden (Warm and cozy, deep in an exotic cyber café..) out of reach of the Police/Courts..

See you!

I too lost my appetite thinking of someone, and I see that many people received the same email as me supposedly from the minors brigade, and in the end, it's not them. I think it's guys who have nothing better to do.

Hello,

How can you panic about something you haven't done?

Best regards.

Hello. Incredible your response. If you are accused of a theft you didn't commit, don't panic, you will prove your innocence. But, just look at history. When you are accused of pedophilia, the world collapses, and even after proving your innocence, the looks remain. You have no choice but to move and change your life.

Hello,

The purpose of the "threat" is "simply" to instill fear and obtain payments by playing on that fear, thereby blocking any form of reflection....

The scammers have no use for publicly disseminating anything (they would thus lose their leverage), especially since... when it's bogus.... they have nothing to publish!....

In short, these are mass mailings to addresses that are sometimes randomly chosen, or more frequently collected from X sites (or other categories of dubious sites...) that people have visited, and which, by their wording, lead the most naive to believe that they are official services that sent them...

As always, it is essential to remember that in "real" cases of suspicion of participation in this type of offense and/or crime, the (real) authorities send a simple letter of notification for "a matter concerning you" ... or show up at your home unannounced at 6 am...

I add...

Currently, these emails are being sent out en masse... the authorities are aware of this and are warning against:

Hi, I think it's a load of nonsense because the police don't send you that by email but by mail. I've been in a big panic for 8 days since I received this email, but it was from a certain Yvette.

I also received this email and replied to it!
Honestly, I panicked so I called the police, having nothing to reproach myself for.
They immediately confirmed the scam to me.
I then received a second email offering to settle the dispute for the modest sum of 1250 euros ???????????????? and everything would be forgotten.
Indeed, that's when I understood the reason for the scam.

You should NEVER click on a link coming from the "government" sent by e-mail. We're talking about the government here, about justice. If they have news to announce, they generally open your door themselves between 5 and 6 am, trust them, they will arrive like the Inquisition: when you least expect it.

As for your email, if you use Gmail, you can request a verification code via your mobile. Gmail will then close all sessions on all devices and send you a message on your mobile to verify that it's really you before any connection.

The link may also have triggered a download, run a scan on your PC with your antivirus, or better yet, save your important data (photos and others) to Drive and ask your local computer repair technician to reset your PC to factory settings.

Finally, get yourself a VPN subscription (Nord VPN is not bad), it has nothing to do with the email but it will help you avoid many problems on the net, particularly the theft of certain information on sites with automatic login.

Kisses, hugs, and chocolate!

My mom just received an email of this kind saying that I am subject to pedophilia, etc. However, we noticed it was French and we are in Belgium, so it doesn't make sense. We deleted the email and blocked the user.

Even the email received this morning from a supposed Commissioner Divisionnaire Christophe Jean-Paul Gaudin, head of the minors' protection brigade.
Very scary email when you read it.
Unfortunately, I replied and he offered me an amicable settlement by paying an amount between €2000 and €6300 depending on the severity of the offense. Then I received another email stating that the amount was fixed at €4800 to be transferred within a few hours.
The bank details came from an account in Luxembourg, as by chance, at SOGEXIA.
All this is very suspicious and I ended up calling the minors' protection brigade. It’s entirely a SCAM.
It is necessary to report the existence of these emails on the Pharos platform and denounce the authors hiding behind it. Everything is a scam but well crafted, and in the moment, fear can overwhelm you.

They threatened me with legal reprisals and that my photo and identity would be broadcast on all the TVs in the country as well as in the newspapers. They should try this kind of email in Russia or the United States; they'd make a fortune, those rascals.
