Giving a dagger to your child in Skyrim

Hi!

I adopted two kids in Skyrim recently and, having read that they could be attacked by bandits, I thought I’d give them each a dagger (I saw some guys on forums saying their kids had Dwemer daggers...)
The problem is, when I want to gift them something, I only have food and books... Help please!

    It's weird, I also managed to give a crappy dagger to my kids. You're probably looking at it wrong. But well, the game is bugged everywhere too, so it's not impossible that it happens to you.

    Do you play on Xbox? Because if you're on PC, it might be a mod...

      Indeed, I play on PC and I have Dragonborn, Dawnguard, and Hearthfire.
      I don't know if any of these expansions is responsible for being able to give a dagger or not.

      Ok, it's all good, I restarted the console and it's possible now! It must have just been a bug...

      The game is riddled with bugs. I can no longer find the knight who issues a challenge.
