Hello good evening!
Here, I have a graphic problem that is starting to become quite annoying..
So I am on Asus Notebook (N53Jg) which has 2 graphics cards, an integrated card (Intel HD Graphics) and an NVidia card (GT 415M). I am on Windows 7 Home Premium edition, x64 OS.
The 2 graphic cards are recognized, but the NVidia card doesn’t seem to be doing its job.. When I am in a game, and for many of them, the GT 415M does not run, I can see it thanks to an icon in the taskbar, so I went into the NVidia Control Panel to choose my preferred graphics processor which is the NVidia High-Performance Processor (my NVidia card I presume), in 3D Settings > Global Settings.
But nothing works, the game still doesn’t run on the GT 415M, so I went into 3D Settings > Program Settings to choose the preferred graphics processor for each of my games, using the global setting (where I obviously chose the NVidia High-Performance Processor)
But there, nothing works more. I went back to directly set NVidia High-Performance Processor in the preferred graphics processor for each of my games, but same thing, it’s always the integrated graphics card that handles the game..
Yet for a single game, the activity icon of the graphics card is on and seems to be running, but even after disabling the graphics card, I get exactly the same performance, so I deduced that it was still the integrated graphics card that was running, but why was the icon on? A bug?
I heard that some graphic cards are equipped with an Optimus function, which allows switching between graphic cards automatically between games (NVidia card and the “butautique” (Intel integrated graphics) if you get what I mean! but it doesn’t seem to work, I still don’t see the taskbar icon light up, and that is very strange..
So question apart, does the Optimus function only work when a program is in fullscreen mode, to switch between the integrated graphics and the NVidia graphics card? Because in any case, fullscreen or not, I don’t see any difference, it’s even worse in fullscreen
This problem appeared after a factory reset of my computer, since it was seriously acting up.. And so I must not have the same settings anymore, but trying everything doesn’t work.
I have all my drivers up to date, drivers up to date, graphics driver up to date (Ver. 337.88 for those who would have an NVidia card, I know that version 340.xx has been released but it is in beta and in addition it slowed down all my games, even before the factory reset)
I have certainly forgotten to mention methods that could solve the problem, which have failed, so propose anything that comes to mind :D
PS: I just thought of something..
When I did my reset, I had “stocked” my games so as not to lose them and re-download them, but could not re-download the game pose potential compatibility (especially graphics) or other problems if I only did a copy/paste? I will test with a not-too-heavy game.
And I apologize for any spelling mistakes I may have made, or for the misunderstandings in my sentences which seem a bit too long ^^
If you need more information (about my computer or if you didn’t understand certain sentences) do not hesitate! :)
Thanks in advance for all your future answers :)
