Blackberry: Invalid SIM card

Good evening everyone and thank you in advance for solving my problem;

I received a BlackBerry (8100) smartphone as a gift from a friend in Canada,

but when I inserted my SIM card, I received the following message: (( Invalid SIM card )) ;

    Hello,

    Your message and information lead me to believe that your BB is not "unlocked".
    In fact, I also received this kind of message when I put my own SIM card into my new BB, being with a different operator than the original one (which initially sold the BB).
    The "unlocking" is a process that must be done with the original operator and by the previous owner to unlock a phone. It’s a network lock by the operator to prevent any abuse and protect their phones in case of theft ;)
    In any case, in France we have to proceed this way, and when I went to Quebec, I had to do this step to be able to use a local SIM card.
