Unrecognized UNC path

Hello,

I am logged in as an administrator on a Windows 7 PC.
I am copying sources into a shared folder with read/write permission.
I connect with the same administrator user on another machine in the same WORKGROUP.
I create a network drive Z: pointing to the shared folder.
For example, I run:
Z:\MAC5\setup.exe

The installation starts without issue, then an error message appears:

Cannot start the installation from a UNC path.
You must connect a network drive at the workstation and start the installation from that network drive.

I have verified from the client machine that I can read and write files in the shared folder.
I have an XP client, and there is no problem installing even with the UNC path.
So it's probably another issue, but ?? I'm stuck.
I tested with a homegroup, same problem?

Do you have a tip for me?

Thank you very much in advance for your response,
Best regards,
scot

Hi,
the executable in question might be trying to access files via a hard link on a specific UNC path that you are not connected to...
Do you have the path indicated in the error message?
The home sharing won't solve this problem.
What's strange is that the same executable works under WP
